An insulated workshop is a productive workshop. Calahan Construction is here to help you build, renovate, or make additions to your workshop to ensure a workspace that’s comfortable and functional for your daily activities.
We suggest implementing a steel agricultural workshop for a practical workspace setup because they are low maintenance, long-lasting, and energy efficient. They allow your workspace to retain a comfortable temperature while continuing to keep utility bills low.
Dairy operations are vital day in and day out, and often the productivity of the herd is dependent on the cows’ comfortability. At Calahan Construction, we maximize dairy buildings to ensure the cows’ comfort and provide a streamlined workspace for the farmers. Our experience in designing and renovating free stalls, milking parlors, maternity barns, manure processing facilities, and more, allows us to provide the best barn for your operations.

Calahan Construction practices post-frame—also known as pole barn—construction for commercial farm buildings. Post-frame construction is a building method that uses large posts to create a building that maximizes the structure’s interior square footage. Compared to stick frame construction, our post-frame structures require less framing, so they are constructed quickly—while maintaining durability—at a lower cost.
There are many differences between pole barn buildings and stick frame construction. Aside from being quicker to assemble and more affordable, post-frame construction also:
At Calahan Construction, we want you to get the most use out of your agricultural building. Since post-frame construction utilizes large posts to develop the building’s structure, these commercial buildings don’t need interior walls for additional support. This creates more interior barn space for your workshop, equipment storage, livestock, crops, and more.
We want to help you develop a barn that will last, which is why most of our post-frame structures are outlined with steel or metal building panels. Although they can be finished with any exterior surface, steel and metal are most often used because of their durability and longevity. Steel farm buildings also withstand high winds and water damage without causing harm to the frame or any equipment, crops, or animals inside.
Unlike stick frame structures, pole barn buildings are constructed on cement columns anchored in the ground or mounted on a slab. Without laying a basement foundation, you’re able to save construction time and business resources for your other farming necessities.
Stick frame building posts are required every 16 to 24 inches to remain stable. On the other hand, Calahan Construction post-frame buildings only require posts every 8 feet. As a result of wider spacing, insulation material can be thicker with fewer breaks in between. This minimizes the risk of energy transfer between indoor and outdoor temperatures, making post-frame structures more energy efficient than stick frame buildings.
